We are delighted to welcome Surrey Art School back to the Sculpture Garden for autumn 2025.

Drawn To Nature

As we start to move into October, the palette of the Sculpture Garden shifts from deep and vibrant greens to burnt sienna and umber tones. Once fresh and juicy leaves become crunchy, dry and move into a state of overwintering. Early October sees the start of the autumn, where lush greens mix with the start of the seasonal change.

This season Surrey Art School founder Ellie Green invites you back to the garden to witness and capture this transformation in motion. Working with autumnal-toned drawing inks, a dip pen and watercolour brush - we'll capture stark silhouettes, crunchy leaves and warm bronzed tones on paper. 

Spending the first half of the afternoon tuning into the Autumnal energy in the Sculpture Garden - we'll collect fallen leaves and take a few mindful snaps to inspire our creative experiments. After a spot of tea and cake, we'll move to creating wet and dry grounds and the chance to play with both dip pen & brush to capture the shapes and textures of the season. You can expect a grounding and experimental workshop with a chance to bring the essence of the garden home with you on the day. 

All materials are included in this workshop.

The afternoon will be broken into two workshops, with a break for tea, locally roasted coffee and scrumptious homemade cakes midway through (vegan option available).

Timing: 1.30 pm to 5pm

Guests are welcome to stay util 6pm to explore the Sculpture Garden further - perhaps employing some of the lessons gleaned earlier in the day, or just taking time to relax and unwind in the serene setting.

As this is taking place on a Saturday afternoon, there will be other visitors in the grounds during this time.

Please note: the Sculpture Garden is a natural woodland setting, with uneven ground in places. As this is an outdoor workshop, please come prepared for the weather (we will move under cover if it is wet - but warm clothing is recommended)
