Kevin Sweeney's first public exhibition was held at the Royal Academy's Summer Exhibition 2007. Both pieces submitted were accepted and sold on the opening night. He has since created some 15 pieces for private commissions and is preparing new, innovative and exciting works for his first solo exhibition to be planned for 2010.

Sweeney's work has been inspired by his study of the Laban technique. Laban teaches the study of the negative space surrounding an object and the different types of pressures used moving through it. This awareness of form in space has fed into his work.

Sweeney's original sculptures are meticulously constructed from a galvanised maleable skeleton, overlaid with fibreglass resin and then undergo a painstaking filling and sanding process to be completed with a multi-layered varnished exterior.

A sense of movement appears in the work as a result of light reflecting on the surfaces, creating a sense of drama in each piece.

The BBC's 'Look East' are currently filming the commission and installation of a Kevin Sweeney sculpture for the Burlington club in Mayfair.
